Opined: That Hanging Sock!!

Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell... Christmas is on its way, Santa Claus is riding its reindeer and will put that gift in 'that hanging sock' if you had been good child throughout the year. Similar or something on lines of it - is what we grew up to with. Santa will come and put in gifts. As a grown up – we understand that neither of the above thing is true. The Santa or gifts or reindeer. Then why is this story practiced? To teach children to behave so that they can be good beings – but is that true? Can story or threat turn them into good human beings? Children’s minds are like a blank page. They learn and do what they see other grown up doing. So, if a child turns to be a goon, thug – can we hold parents responsible?  No, that wouldn’t be true either. The reality is that children are part of us but we cannot dominate or sway their path. Parents are guardians and teachers who walk around children to ensure they are safe and they learn good habits. However, what is going inside a chi

Opined: Various thoughts crossing a female's mind when she sees and feels unprotected

The news is flooded with Tehelka scandal and people are demanding for punishment against Mr. Tejpal. The fact that he did something as heinous as trying to force himself on a female is good enough to send him behind bars - but, will that be sufficient?

Opined: Fairies tale - Shattering the dreams

“Hansel & Gratel”, “Cinderella”, “Snow White & Seven Dwarfs”, and such fairy tales have surrounded us from our childhood and continue to do so. The entire idea of “being” good-will-ultimately-lead-you-to-your-prince-charming has been conceptualized and used by mothers, their daughters and daughters' daughters to make them live in a fantasy world; quite ironic to the real world – which goes by the law of ‘survival of fittest.’

Women seek man who resembles their father...

According to a new study; women tend to fall for men who resemble their father. Does it actually state facts or re-incorporate the beliefs already set?

Girl’s love for Cosmetics can never be understood!

We make it; we use it, play with it, store it, are possessive about it and will never share it with any other girl.

A Room of Mine Own

I pushed the door open, threw myself straight on the big bed, and cried my heart out. There was no need to bang it close or to lock it as no single soul existed to hear my cries. I vented out my anger, frustration and emotions as I looked up to frame hung on wall near my bed. It was a picture of my mom and dad. I looked at my mom with tearful eyes and sorrowful heart and wished that she were with me.

Writing and writers- Neglected or accepted?

Which is the first thought that crosses your mind when someone utters the word, ‘writer?’ Is it the person across is an author - a novelist or a poet? Or something else?

Love Touches Few.

Even after lot of control, Nita could not stop herself for seeing him. How could she? After all, she was in love. He was ignorant. She persuaded him. He ran from her. The more she tried, the more she lost.

Why impress?

Impress a small word with lot of complications. Most of us, try to impress people to gain their attention or favour. But, have we ever stopped ourselves and thought why, why do we so? It maybe not a conscious thought but for one reason or the other, we end up doing so. I am not exception. At certain point of time, even I did it. Only to realize later, that what was the whole point? No matter whosoever we may try to impress, a crush, classmate, professor, friend or any relative, they all will always behave the way they want to. They will believe and judge people not by what they are but by what other have to say. No matter how horrid it may sound, it is bitter truth of life. Irrespective of good or bad, people will always comment, will judge, and will spread rumours hurting your image and identity. In such crisis, the only thing that speaks is your work. Whatever work you do: a fresher, a part-time employee at any café or office or fully-fledged employee under work pressur

Serendipity

[Those meant to stay in life, stay, not being visible all the times, not being approachable at times; but they are always there. Like a shadow, they follow you, without making their presence felt. They are like the breadth, one always take, but without acknowledging it. Those, who are never meant to be part of life, will always break away, no matter how hard you try to hold them.] An accident changed her course of life. She had waited all long for this miracle. Call it a destiny or call it coincidence that accident was meant to happen. Her life had major vicissitudes, had fluctuated, had given her reasons to hate life completely, but she carried on to an unknown destination. What was she looking for, no one knew. She went to the roads unknown, paths unpaved; only to face dejection. Where was her life leading her, she had no clue. She just went with the winds, to deepest and darkest tunnels and dungeons of life in search of a light. To search for something that could give meanin
