Book Review: Irrationally Passionate by Jason Kothari

About Book & Author

Irrationally Passionate by Jason Kothari is a book about dreams, struggles, and achievements. In this book, Kothari has shared his life-changing events and incidents that helped him develop his entrepreneurship skills. He has been open and honest about his life struggles such as facing bullying, coming face to face with gangs in Hong-Kong, to being almost lost to addictions – everything has been conveyed as it is! There has been no shying away in expressing the journey. And, these things make this book more interesting to read.

I just dived into it and kept reading it in a smooth flow. The writing is in story-telling style, which keeps the interest together. The language is crisp, easy, and simple to understand. Since, the author has been open in conveying his life experiences; it makes the story relatable. For example: bullying is something that happens with a lot of people and while reading Kothari’s account, many people would empathize with him. Similarly being a lost soul in teenage and eventually finding way also makes it more relatable.

Take away from the book

Cultural Roots: I personally liked how the author has portrayed his struggle of being Indian in foreign land. The entire idea of being a confused Desi is beautifully explained. The lost child who wants to hold on to roots yet to find his own way through the different cultural backgrounds seems like all of us – who are lost with the way our cultural is moving towards westernization.

Determination: Kothari’s determination to be a successful entrepreneur starts from his childhood. Even through the ups and downs in his life; his determination to make his niche in the world of business doesn’t shake. Never give up!

Openness: As I have mentioned above, Kothari has been quite open in sharing his failures, detour, challenges, and making it in the big world. This has been my biggest take away to be open about your failures as they shape us as an entrepreneur.

For budding entrepreneurs

This book is a must for all the budding entrepreneurs. If they want to make it big, this book will tell them a lot about how to handle tough situations in life and how to start seeing smallest things as opportunities. I am an entrepreneur and I got to learn a lot from this book. From aligning my ideas and thoughts in the right direction to start dreaming big – the book has been a key to shape my entrepreneur journey.

I am thankful to the author Jason Kothari for bringing this book and helping young entrepreneurs take their journey.
