About The Book

The Backyard Tales is the story of the bond shared between 17-year-old Mia Basu Roy and her beloved cat, Pippo. She seems to understand him far too well for a human. And he seems have another life that Mia begins to suspect. She follows her cat to their backyard and down a very dangerous road which leads her to witches, talking animals, and a story that’s much bigger than what she initially suspected.

Read this story to discover all of Mia and Pippo’s secrets, be enchanted by magic, and get the answer to a question that has haunted us for ages: does a cat truly love their owner?

My Take Away From the Book:

-          A Pure Bond: The story revolves around a stray cat, Pippo who was adopted by Mia and became a house cat. The story talks in detail about growing up Mia and Pippo’s bond. The depth and love with which it is written, tells a lot about author’s imagination. I was engrossed in every bit and piece of this ever growing relationship.

It is a common knowledge that pets are very special. But, the way in which, author has described their bond; it generates more sensitivity and understanding of a pet’s world.

-          The Mystery: Interlinking the owner and pet bond with a certain mystery going around town gives it an interesting twist. The introduction of animal working along with a witch to save neighbour; is a really commendable plot that author pulled off very well.

-          Teenage world: Adolescence is an age that kids want to explore or fight for their identity. Yet, here, our protagonist goes all out to bring peace in neighbourhood by helping the witch. And, also taking the welfare of animals very seriously. Yes, the story also sketches crush and love that any teenager would be inclined to experience in a very skilful way – without disturbing the original plot.

Overall, I loved reading it and would recommend it to all animal lovers!
